Ambeliana acida, also known as "Pepino do mato," is an evergreen shrub or small tree that can grow up to 3-8 meters in height, with a straight cylindrical the trunk of a treebole of 15-20cm in diameter.
This plant produces latex in all of its parts. The tree is often harvested from the wild and used locally as a source of food, medicine, and wood.
While it is occasionally cultivated for its fruit, it is particularly favored by the Tikuna people.
