Duguetia stenantha "Mano de Tigre" - Fresh Batch of Hapa Joe's Favorite Fruit! Seeds

Duguetia stenantha "Mano de Tigre" Seeds

Duguetia stenantha in my all-time favorite fruit, and it was the unanimous favorite for all four of us on our latest expedition too.

We discovered that the Huitito growing in a particular place; nativeindigenous community is setting up a farm to grow this species. The Huitito informed us that it takes the plant 5 to 7 years to bear fruit. My main objective for these expeditions is to find Duguetia and this is the tastiest one yet.

The seedless carpals have a dense, candy corn-like texture with hints of melon, brown sugar, and praline. I could eat these all day long. Just look at it!

Unfortunately, I don't have information on growing them in the United States as it's the first time this species is being grown here. However, other Duguetia varieties are known to have frost tolerance down to 26°F.

Duguetia stenantha comes from the tropics of the Amazon Jungle. Interested in seeing what other fruits are found there? Check out this interesting Jaboticaba relative, Plinia clausa, or look at our whole collection!
