Fruit in May to July and sometimes in August. The fruits are tasty and have bitter chocolate flavor with coffee and are very pleasant for fresh consumption. The tree is caducifolia (losing leaves at the end of winter, flowering without leaves) and of reduced size and so serves very well to be cultivated in large gardens and squares in places where people stay away from the thorns of the plant. This species can not miss in reforestation projects, because the plant is very rustic when in weak soils and in full sun and its early production of fruits feed the fauna in general. The flowers are honeybees and indicated mainly as bee pasture for indigenous bees.
