Collection: Annonaceae Family
The Annonaceae family, also known as the custard apple family, is a group of flowering plants that includes approximately 2,400 species of trees, shrubs, and lianas. They are distributed mainly in the tropical regions of the world, with the highest diversity found in the Neotropics.
Members of the family are known for their fragrant, often showy flowers, and fleshy fruit. Some species are of economic importance as sources of food, medicine, and ornamental plants. The most well-known genus in the Annonaceae family is Annona, which includes species such as the sugar apple, cherimoya, and soursop.
The Annonaceae family includes the genus Duguetia, and my favorite fruit, Duguetia stenantha.
