INGÁBAÚ or UVAIA DO VISCONDE, and the species name was given in honor of Viscount Henrique de Beaurepaire-Rochan. It is also called uvaia-rambutan because of the rough, hairy texture of the skin and the much better flavor!

 

Origin: Native and native/restricted toendemic to the Atlantic Forest along the coast, occurring in the states of: São Paulo, Paraná, Rio de Janeiro and Santa Catarina, Brazil. In the past, fruits were harvested from wild trees and were part of the table of high society, mainly viscounts. The flowers have great beekeeping potential. The fruits attract numerous species of birds.
