This famous Myrciaria made history. Previously it was just called Myrciaria sp roxa - Blue Guaquiea. This year it finally got a scientific name: Myrciaria caerulescens. This Myrciaria is said to taste better than any Jaboticaba. It comes from the Campos rupestres region in the Atlantic Rainforest of Minas Gerais. The Espinhaço Mountains are a mountain range in Brazil that is 1100 km long and is larger than the European Alps. There is this ecoregion Campos rupestres. What is it actually like there? So first of all it's pretty high up. Between 900 and 2000 meters. There is really a lot of wind there, dry, cold winters (up to 5 degrees) and humid summers with high levels of sunshine. The soils are very poor in nutrients and shallow. The PH value is very low and there are high aluminum values! Despite these extreme values, the Campos rupestres is home to around 15% of the Brazilian flora! This is huge! We therefore recommend sand, peat and referring to the basebasalt stones as a mixture for this Myrciaria.
