Plinia aureana "Branca Mel"

Plinia aureana "Branca Mel", also known as white honey Jaboticaba, boasts as the largest cultivar of its kind. With its relatively smaller seeds and smooth, spherical; globe shapedglobose fruit that may have minor remnants of the sepal, it is considered the most desirable of the aureanas.

Unlike other Plinia aureana fruit, which usually measure 2.0-2.5 cm in diameter, Branca Mel has reached 3 cm in size. The flavor of the fruit has a hint of honey, which is a common characteristic of most Plinia aureana cultivars. Its leaves can also be shorter, wider, and smoother compared to the typical form of Plinia aureana, which often have deeply veined leaves.

Branca Mel is known to fruit 3-4 times a year, starting at 3.5-4 years of age, making it a flowering/bearing at an early ageprecocious jaboticaba. This cultivar is from Minas Gerais state, Brazil.
