Pouteria sp. "Abiu Carambola" is a newly discovered sapotacea from Brazil with a flavor similar to abiu and a shape resembling a small starfruit. It is a must-have for fruit collectors!
When fully ripe, the fruit is incredibly sticky and extremely sweet.
Pouteria sp. "Abiu Carambola" comes from the subtropical biome of Sao Paulo. Interested in seeing what other fruits are found there? Check out this very similar looking pear shaped pouteria we found on this same trip, or look at our collection!

Brown Sugar, Pralines.. mmm...
There's a reason I keep trying to tell you about Duguetia stenantha. The reason? Well... it's delicious.
