Kepel, also known as Keppel or Burahol (Stelechocarpus burahol), is a fruit-bearing tree that is native to the Special Region of Yogyakarta in Indonesia. The fruit of the Kepel tree is highly favored by the princesses of the Javanese palaces because it is believed to have the ability to improve body odor and urine scent.
Yogyakarta is one of the few cities in Indonesia that still retains its traditional royal government structure. The fruit of Kepel is unique and has a sweet taste, with a texture that is similar to a combination of avocado and melon. It has a distinct and indescribable fragrance, which some compare to a blend of several flowers.
Interested in other fruit that I don't usually find? The world famous African Baobab Tree, known for its incredible ability to store water in the trunk, has an equally incredible lesser known fruit with a lemony taste!
The Holy Grail.
I've been searching for Duguetia marcgraviana for FAR too long, and supplies are extremely limited. Taste is similar to my favorite fruit, Duguetia stenantha; but with more of a cantaloupe flavor and unique sugar apple qualities.
