1 seed Pindaiba comes from the Tupi-Guarani and means "tree of reeds or sticks" referring to the thin and long stem of the plant. It is also called Pindaíba de Anta or yellow, tapir minutes and Tapir Aticum.

Rare species that is in danger of extinction. Although the fruit is large has very little aislo or pulp, but this is because the plant is wild and has never been cultivated or domesticated.

Tips for cultivation: slow growing plant, humid and rainy subtropical climate, more that can adapt to warmer and wetter climates. It is not drought resistant, but supports frosts up to – 3 degree 26 degrees Fahrenheit!

Planting: I recommend that it be planted in full sun, but the ideal is to make shade cover in the first 2 years after planting. In the orchard it is planted in a spacing of 6 x 6 m, in pits of 50 cm in the three dimensions; adding to 30 cm of the surface 6 kg of well-tanned organic matter, 4 shovels of sifted clay soil, 300 g of limestone, mix everything and let enjoy for 2 months. Planting should be done from October. Irrigate with 15 l of water per week for the first 3 months if it does not rain. It is advisable to cover the surface of the earth with dry grass or sawdust to maintain moisture.

Uses: Fruit in the months of September to December. The tree should be grown in botanical gardens, tree collections and orchards for its preservation. It is important to include in forest recomposition because it is a climax tree (long life) and because it has great fruit production that feeds the terrestrial fauna in general. The fruits can be consumed in natura highlighting the gums and siser the orange part that has good taste. The fruits of this species have great potential for trade and especially for ornamentation of gastronomic events for its rare beauty and flavor. Because it is a species that is at risk of extinction, it is of the utmost importance that it be planted and preserved. It is very important to cultivate this species to save it from extinction.
